What is a QR Code Generator?

A QR code stores text, a link, WiFi details or a payment address in a square pattern that any phone camera can scan. This free generator creates QR codes for URLs, plain text, WiFi, UPI payments and email, with no watermark and no signup. The QR code updates live as you type, and you can download it as a PNG.

Common uses include sharing a website or Instagram profile, letting guests join your WiFi, and creating a UPI payment QR for a shop.

Choosing Size and Color

SizePrinted size at 300 DPIGood for
200 x 200 pxabout 1.7 cmOn-screen use only
300 x 300 pxabout 2.5 cmWebsites, social media, small prints
400 x 400 pxabout 3.4 cmFlyers, receipts, product labels
500 x 500 pxabout 4.2 cmDocuments and shop counters

For posters, banners or anything scanned from a distance, you need a much larger QR code. As a rule of thumb, the scanning distance should be about 10 times the width of the QR code.

Color tips

  • Use a dark QR color on a light background. High contrast scans best.
  • Avoid light colors such as yellow or light grey on white.
  • Do not invert the colors (light code on a dark background). Some scanners cannot read it.

Important Things to Know

  • The QR code contains your data in readable form. A WiFi QR contains your WiFi password. Anyone who sees or photographs it can read it, so do not display it where strangers can see it.
  • These are static QR codes. The data is stored directly in the code, so it never expires. The link, UPI ID or WiFi password inside it must stay valid, and you cannot edit a QR code after printing it.
  • Always test before printing or sharing. Scan the QR with at least two different phones.
  • Do not use a static QR code as a ticket or a secure pass. It can be copied.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data uploaded to a server?

No. The QR code is generated in your browser, and the data you enter is not sent to our server.

Does the QR code have a watermark or an expiry date?

There is no watermark and the QR code itself never expires. It stores your data directly, so it keeps working as long as the link, UPI ID or WiFi password inside it stays the same. You can use it for business.

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?

A static QR code, like the ones this tool creates, stores the data inside the code, so it cannot be changed after you print it. A dynamic QR code points to a short link that can be edited later and usually needs an online service and tracking.

How do I create a WiFi QR code?

Select WiFi, enter your network name and password, and choose the security type. Guests can scan it with their phone camera and connect without typing the password.

How do I create a UPI QR code?

Select UPI Payment and enter your UPI ID and name. Customers can scan it with Google Pay, PhonePe or any other UPI app. Always scan it yourself first and check the payee name.

How much text can a QR code hold?

A QR code can hold a few thousand characters at most, but the more data it has, the denser it looks and the harder it is to scan. Keep links and text short for the best results.

Why is my QR code not scanning?

The most common reasons are low color contrast, a size that is too small, or too much data. Use a dark color on a white background, increase the size, or shorten the link.
