Test and debug your regular expressions instantly with our free online Regex Tester. Whether you are validating emails, extracting data, or learning regex, this tool gives you real-time feedback as you type. Simply enter your regex pattern, choose flags like global (g), case-insensitive (i), or multiline (m), then paste your test string. Matches are highlighted instantly, along with match count and captured groups. WebToolsKit's Regex Tester runs in your browser using JavaScript, so your patterns and test text are not sent to our server. It uses the JavaScript (ECMAScript) regex engine, so results match what you would get in JavaScript. Basic patterns work similarly in Python, Java and PCRE, but some advanced features differ, so re-test in your own language. Common uses include validating form input, extracting emails or phone numbers from text, parsing URLs and searching logs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my regex data sent to a server?
No. This tool runs 100% client-side in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded.
Which regex flavor is supported?
The JavaScript (ECMAScript) flavor. Basic syntax is similar in Python, Java and PCRE, but features such as named-group syntax, possessive quantifiers and atomic groups differ.
Why is my regex showing an error?
Invalid syntax like unclosed brackets causes errors. Check the red error box for details.
What do the flags mean?
g finds all matches, i ignores case, m makes ^ and $ match at the start and end of each line, and s lets . match newlines.
Why does my regex work here but not in Python?
The engines differ in some features. Test advanced patterns in your own language too.
